Bakewell Manners Wood Bakewell 6 miles

1. From the A6 - (near the recreation ground) - walk across the park - by the river towards town. Cross  the river at the  first bridge.  Go through the car park - after crossing the second bridge turn immediately left - follow the path to Coombs Road.

2. 2. Turn left - then right up Station road - stay on this road past the golf course at the hair pin bend a path on the right begins through the wood.......

follow this path right to the end - where the path meets a track - take the immediate right down Coombs Road.


4.  Follow this track all the way back to the agricultural centre -



5.  Go through the centre and back to the beginning of the walk..............

7.5 mile - from Bakewell - Ballcross-Calton Houses - Manners Wood- Bakewell

1. From the A6 - (near the recreation ground) - walk across the park - by the river towards town. Cross  the river at the  first bridge.  Go through the car park - after crossing the second bridge turn immediately left - follow the path to Coombs Road.
 
2. Turn left - then right up Station road - stay on this road past the golf course and to the top- opposite Ballcross farm is a stile - go through this follow the footpath past the pond then follow the footpath down toward Russian Cottage(it's like the M1!)
 3. At the gate turn right -follow the path  - Calton Houses are down on your left.  On reaching the gate turn right again and follow the bridleway round to the left and follow the path to Manners Wood.
 4. Take the path down through the woods, bearing left all the way down to the top of the Coombs.  At the cross roads - keep straight on the trak - go left at the junction. Keep to the footpath down hill when you reach the track keep right. Before you reach the river - there is a path to the left - follow this following the river - upstream. Keep to the right path. Although the left one takes you back the same way.........
5. Walk back towards Bakewell keeping the hedge to your left.  This brings you back to the agricultural centre - and then wend your way back to the beginning....

almost 7 mile - B'well, Over Haddon; Alport; Shining Bank Quarry - B'well

1.  From the A6 opposite the park) follow Holywell up the hill - take the gate at the end of Park View -walk up the hill, take the steps keeps onwards past the cemetery.

2. With the school in front of you - turn left.  Follow this path through a couple of fields - to pass over a small beck - continue to follow the path through 4 fields until you reach a road (Shutts Lane)

3. On reaching the road turn left - then take the lane on the right  - opposite Noton Barn Farm - walk up this road - hidden in the wall on the left  is a stile  - climb this then follow the paths over 3 fields.

4. On reaching the wall near the pub,  take a sharp left and follow the path down hill to the road.

5. At the road turn right - cross over Conksbury Bridge - just past the bridge is a stile on your left  - go through this and walk down the River Lathkill to Alport.

6. Walk down the back of the village ( there is  small footpath bridge you can take) - follow the road round at the T junction turn left - at the sharp bend take the lane that bears right. This path takes you through a caravan park- follow the path to another lane - left again.

7. At the B5056 go left again  - follow this to the T junction - opposite this is a track take this and walk up!  Past Shiningbank Quarry - follow the straight ahead .

8. When you come to the cross roads of paths  bear left - walk to the far most corner of the field -over the stile then keeping the wall on your right along this path untill you reach the road again.

9. Through the gate and straight down the road back to Noton Barn Farm - just past the farm is the gate you passed through earlier -  take this again but walk straight down the bridlepath to Intake Lane keeping the wall on your right.


10. At the  bottom of Intake Lane - before the A6 - there is a snicket to the left that leads onto Wyedale Cresent -  go left  - walk through the estate keep going straight until you are back where you started..........

7 and a half mile walk Bakewell; Over Haddon : Bakewell

.1.  Starting at the A6 - near the Park - walk up Holywell - bear right.

2. At the end of Park View  -go through the gate  - follow path past the  cemetery  -




3. Turn left  follow the path over the fields until you reach a road - turn left again.


4. Take the first right up the road towards Over Haddon - look for a stile in the wall go over this and follow the path over the fields to the Lathkill Pub. 


5. Walk through the village to Main Street -either road takes you there - follow the road down to Lathkill Dale.

6. Turn right and walk up the dale - with the river on your left......

7. On leaving the the wood - go through two gates - and take the path left heading up and out of the dale.

8. At the road go right again follow this back to Over Haddon - at the T junction go left - then shortly after bear right down the hill.


9. Just past New Close Farm on your right - you are back on the route you took to bring you to the beginning of the walk - follow the path back to the start........

6 mile winter walk


1. start walk at A6 near the park - follow the road opposite the park - Holywell up - keeping walking up Park Road until you arrive at some steps.  Take these - turn right down the Butts  - very shortly there are a few steps on the left  through a wood, take these.

2. Follow the path to the church - through the church yard - take the path to the Lynch Gate - straight on follow Parsonage croft - at the end is a snicket take this and through the stile -

3. bear right and go thought the field diagonally - until you reach Stanage Road .

4. Left again - pass St Anselms school - you reach a waymaker pointing to Ashford on the right - follow this.

 5. On exiting Endcliffe Wood - cross the A6 go left - take the path on the right to Ashford.

6. On leaving the fields go right and right again - over the disused bridge towards Ashford - cross over the A6020 - before the Village Hall is a small road follow this up hill - carry on up the pavement - until you see the way maker and squeeze stile on the right on opposite side of A6020 - go through this.

7.  Follow the path past Churchdale Hall - down to the track cross over the A6020 - follow the road and bear right  - walk along the road - signed posted to Hassop Rowland -

8. Just past Mires Lane(on the left) is a footpath to the right follow this path - straight to the A6020 - cross over -take the path leading to the Monsal Trail. Turn left.

9. At the old station at Bakewell come off the trail follow the road down to the town.  there are several ways back to the A6 now  - I would go this way.........
turn left on to Coombes Road - almost immediately go left again through the car parks (these are locked at night) on reaching the river go over the bridge and turn left along the river to the recreation ground and the A6.

4.5 mile bakewell 2

This short walk begins on the A6 - next to Bakewell rec.
1. Opposite the park take the road leading up - Park Road.

2. At the end of Park View is a gate - go through this and follow the path uphill; take the steps and pass the cemetery - when you come to a T junction at the school turn left.

3. follow the well marked path to Shutts Lane - follow the road: where the road takes a sharp right, take the gate in front, follow the wall on your left to a stile, over the stile follow the diagonally over Haddon fields(bearing right) - until you meet a bridlepath.  Walk down the hill - looking at Haddon Hall - until you get to the A6.  Cross with care - go left - hidden in the hedge is a stile - take this.

4.On exiting the wood go straight on: follow the river path back towards the agricultural centre - on leaving the fields turn left again over Meaden bridge - turn right past the allotments - when you get to Wye Bank road cross over and through a snicket to the park ............through the park back to the A6

4.5 miles - bakewell

I've started this walk in Bakewell rec....
1.Walk along river towards Bakewell - cross over the two bridges - turn immediately left follow path to Coombes Rd. Turn right - follow Station Road up to the industrial site. Go through the industrial site to the Monsal Trail - turn left.

2. Follow the trail to the bridleway that crosses the path - turn left walk up the old Bridleway.

3.At Holme Lane left again - walk along the road - take the path through Scott's gardens - to the bridge.

4. over the bridge  - left along the river back to the park
